2021 Radiology Fellowship Graduating Dinner, Part 1
Last Friday evening we celebrated our graduating fellowship class of 2021. Nine Pediatric Radiology fellows received their certificates of completion. Three second-year (Neuroradiology, Body MRI and IR) fellows and one six-month Neuroradiology fellow also received their certificates of completion. Even though they did not get to fully experience what the city of Cincinnati and its surrounding region had to offer due to COVID-19 restrictions, they persevered. Our fellows will be moving on to their new hired positions at hospitals all over the country while some will be staying to continue their education here at Cincinnati Children’s.
Dr. Viet Le was our chief fellow. She started her career at Brown University, then went onto the Medical School of the University of Missouri. She completed her internship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and finished her residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She will be staying at Cincinnati Children’s for a second year to complete an Interventional Radiology fellowship.
Dr. Katie Epstein completed her undergraduate at the University of Michigan, attended medical school at Rosalind Franklin University and residency at the University of New Mexico. She is going back to New Mexico to practice at the New Mexico Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Cory Matthews attended Eastern Arizona and Benedictine College for his undergraduate studies, Midwestern University for his medical degree and completed his internship and residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. He will be practicing his skills at Children’s Minnesota.
Dr. Joe McCrary graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his internship and residency at Maine Medical Center. He will be staying at Cincinnati Children’s as a full-time faculty member in the Radiology Department.
Dr. Jamie Morris graduated from Miami University and received his medical degree and residency from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He will be working at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Rupesh Patel graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. Unfortunately, he could not make it to the graduation dinner. He will be practicing radiology down in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Dr. Nicholas Thomas-Bock graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He will be going back up to northeastern Ohio, where he grew up, and will be working at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Jon Weber graduated from our own University of Cincinnati and received his medical degree from UC’s College of Medicine. At the Jewish Hospital of Mercy Health, he completed his internship and residency at Northwestern University. He will be staying at Cincinnati Children’s for another year of fellowship.
This completes our Part 1 of our Graduating Class of 2021. Part 2 will feature graduating second-year fellows.
