Unveiling Our New Radiology Waiting Room!

Last week, the new Radiology Department waiting area on Burnet Campus was unveiled featuring a “Beneath the Surface” theme. The waiting room was designed by Kolar Design along with our Parent and Family Focus Group to meet the needs and clinical conditions of our patients and families.

What does Beneath the Surface have to do with radiology? Children and families can see what’s just beneath the surface of the Ohio waters in our new waiting room just as our radiologists can see beneath the surface of our patients’ skin.

The waiting area features a beautiful fish tank, an Ohio ecological-themed textured crayon rubbing station, a television, and professional artwork by Susan Mahan. In December, iPads and an interactive floor feature called a GestureTek cube will be added.

If you visit us, please note that  you’ll now enter the waiting area via a door off of the B concourse. Go straight to a kiosk to check in and then have a seat until you are called to registration. For patients and families who would like to eat or drink while waiting, an area right outside the waiting room is available.

Health Information Management (HIM) is also located inside of the department at the front entrance of the new space.

A special thank you goes to the team who made this happen, including the Cincinnati Children’s  internal construction team, Kolar Design, Messer Construction, TriVersity Construction, RCF and Fosdick and Hilmer for creating a beautiful space for our families to enjoy!
