Being There to Care
The only thing more frightening for a child than being in a hospital, is being in a hospital alone. That’s where Josh Cares comes in. Josh Cares, part of the Division of Child Life at Cincinnati Children’s, provides comfort to patients enduring lengthy hospitalizations whose families are unable to be with them constantly.
The program is named for Josh Helfrich, a 10-year-old whose life was cut short by an accident in 2004. His family co-founded Josh Cares after noticing some children who were alone during their stays at Cincinnati Children’s.
