Cincinnati Children’s Pharmacist Says No on Issue 3
On November 3, Ohioans will vote on Issue 3, which would legalize recreational and medical marijuana. Patricia Klein, PharmD, MPH, CSPI, discusses the medical concerns for children exposed to marijuana.
Most of Klein’s concerns surround the regulation and packing of marijuana edibles, which look like candies and foods kids are used to eating. When someone ingests marijuana, they don’t feel the effects for up to two hours. An unknowing person could eat a significant amount before feeling the effects, which could lead to an overdose, especially in children.
