Cincinnati Children’s to Invest $11.5M in Avondale
Cincinnati Children’s and the Avondale community begin a five-year partnership on July 1 to transform child and neighborhood health in Avondale.
The medical center will increase investment in Avondale to encourage community development, strengthen local nonprofit organizations and support workforce development. The collaboration builds upon successful partnerships in Avondale and aligns with the medical center’s Strategic Plan 2020 to help Cincinnati’s kids to be the healthiest in the nation and measurably address child health and social influences.
In addition, Cincinnati Children’s first-year residents are taking tours of Avondale including South Avondale Elementary. The “Neighborhood Experience” is part of their training, as well as a three-year research project. The program is designed to increase the sensitivity of pediatricians to the conditions of low-income families.
