New Hope for Boy with Rare Skin Cancer

Reef Carneson, 6, and his family have traveled from California to Cincinnati to be treated at Cincinnati Children’s for  graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a rare cancer.

Ryan Carneson, Reef’s father, spoke of his son’s medical team at Cincinnati Children’s: “We’re able to see every different specialty. They all come together, work together, and (it’s) very encouraging from how closely they want to follow him and the different treatment options that we’re being offered here that we haven’t been offered before.” His mother, Lydia, said that their experience at the hospital has been “amazing.”

Reef’s story is getting covered by several media outlets. Click on the links below for more.
