NICU Staff Makes Gift Basket for Preemie Hippo

Recently, a baby hippo named Fiona was born six weeks early at the Cincinnati Zoo and Bontanical Gardens.  The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staff at Cincinnati Children’s thought it would be a nice gesture to put together a care package for Fiona.

The basket includes superhero capes given to babies who graduate from the NICU, beads that correspond with milestones she’s reached and a handmade book that documents the hippo calf’s journey so far. The NICU staff also included products they use for their preemie babies to show solidarity for Fiona and her caregivers.
