Ohio Hospital Graduation Ceremony Fulfills Mother’s Dying Wish

After a four-year battle with mantle cell lymphoma, a rare blood cancer, it was Jennifer Linnabary’s dying wish to see her son Ben graduate from high school. With her condition deteriorating, officials at Colerain High School in Cincinnati made her wish come true last weekend by bringing Ben’s graduation to Jennifer’s hospital bedside.

With “Pomp and Circumstance” playing, and Ben in traditional cap and gown, he was presented a diploma in an emotional ceremony at his mother’s bedside while family and friends looked on.

Jennifer passed away the next day.

Jennifer was known at Cincinnati Children’s for her role in helping to start Project SEARCH, a program that trains developmentally disabled people to help them get jobs. The program model has been duplicated all over the country.

Since its inception, Project SEARCH has grown from its original program site at Cincinnati Children’s to over 200 across the United States, Canada, England, Scotland and Australia.
