Ohio mother donates liver to newborn suffering from life-threatening condition
Jordan and Hillary Weidner’s daughter, Bea, was diagnosed at two months old with biliary atresia, a condition affecting the bile ducts of the liver. Bea required a liver transplant, and her mother Hillary was a match. Bea’s parents decided to proceed with a living donor transplant instead of waiting for a deceased donor.
Both Hillary and Bea recovered well from the transplant. The family even started a fundraising campaign called Bea Strong for biliary atresia research and donated $37,000 to Cincinnati Children’s.
