Program That Helps Special Needs Students Get On-The-Job Training Expands Into Kentucky

The Boone County School District has become the first in Kentucky to adopt Project SEARCH, a program geared toward securing competitive employment for people with disabilities.

Developed in 1996 as a partnership between Cincinnati Children’s and Great Oaks Career Campuses in Ohio, Project SEARCH began as a way to fill employment needs in high-turnover, entry-level positions at the hospital while giving developmentally disabled students from Great Oaks the opportunity to learn new skills and have gainful employment.
