Support, education key to coping with sickle cell anemia

On August 22, Cincinnati Children’s hosted the annual Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Research and Education Day for families affected by SCD. The event featured crafts, activities, educational information, and research opportunities.

“We do want to highlight research studies that are available to them, but we also just as importantly want to provide them education about SCD, and we also provide them a forum to meet with each other to know they’re not alone,” said Dr. Charles Quinn, Medical Director of the Pediatric Sickle Cell Disease Program.
