John Hutton, MD, urges parents to read books aloud to their children for at least 15 minutes a day. Hutton’s research shows significant differences in brain MRIs between children whose parents read aloud to them often and children whose parents don’t.

“Reading aloud to a child every day is one of the best and easiest ways to prepare them for a better future, increase national readiness in a 21st century economy and close this seemingly ever-widening gap,” said Hutton.
