Beth, Cynthia and Lori Join the Radiology Team!

We’ve been busy these past few weeks. Radiology added three new employees to our Green Township and Liberty Campus. Please welcome Beth Hopper, Cynthia Mayer and Lori Alfers to the Radiology team! Beth is our new MRI technologist at the Green Township site. Cynthia is our new x-ray technologist, and Lori is our new Child Life Specialist, both of whom are working at our Liberty Campus.

Beth Hopper grew up in Fairfield, Ohio, just a few miles north of Cincinnati. She always wanted to do something in healthcare. In her search for the right job in healthcare, she shadowed an x-ray technologist and knew that’s where she wanted to be. Beth went to school at UC Raymond Walters through the Radiologic Technology Program. After graduating from UC, Beth went straight into MRI at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and worked there for 17 years. She made the switch because her son has been coming to Cincinnati Children’s for 13 years for his food allergies.

“Everyone at Cincinnati Children’s was always happy and nice and I knew one day I would want to be a part of that team. When I heard about the MRI opening, I knew it was my time.”

Beth will have been married to her husband Neil for 16 years in April 2019. They have two boys, Drew (13) and Jacob (11). She loves doing any hobby that involves the boys, soccer, seeing super hero movies, playing games, or traveling. They go on a huge family trip every summer; this summer will be to Myrtle Beach. Her favorite local pizza place is LaRosas.

Cynthia Mayer was born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio, another local town north of Cincinnati. At age eighteen she was accepted into Mercy Hospital’s Radiology School. Cynthia has been in the radiology field for 25 years.

“During my journey I’ve held positions in MRI and CT. I’m very excited that I’ve joined the Liberty Campus imaging division.”

Cynthia has two sons, Matthew and Nicolas. Matthew lives in Alaska and is employed as a combat medic for the USA Army. Nicolas is a freshman at Northern Kentucky University. Her wiener dog Mac has been great company since the boys have been gone. When not at work the boys’ dad and she love eating out and watching movies. They also keep busy working on a fixer upper that will be their forever home. They are no Chip and Jo but it’s going ok.

Traveling more often is a big goal of Beth’s. She loves her yearly beach and Vegas trips. Though she would love to be a gramma someday, right now Beth is enjoying the empty nest. She’s also enjoying her new job.

Lori Alfers is another Hamilton, Ohio, local! Lori entered the medical field because she wanted to help patients and families on their medical journeys. She wants to try to make it a fun experience for them!

“I am so excited to be working at Cincinnati Children’s! I was so impressed by the hospital overall. It has such impressive statistics, a fantastic Child Life program, and amazing staff to help guide families!”

Her favorite things are her faith, family, and friends (and anything and everything that involves pizza!). She loves to watch Netflix, go on hikes, and did we mention eat pizza? The last book that she read was GIRL ON THE TRAIN.
