Each year the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) holds its annual conference in a major city in the United States. This year the meeting was held in Portland, Oregon during the week of July 29th and was attended by several thousand imaging experts from all over the world. The meeting showcases innovative imaging ideas, concepts, and research via presentations, posters, and discussion groups. We use these meetings to enhance our education, investigate new ideas and technologies, and present the interesting work we are doing here at Cincinnati Children’s.

At this year’s meeting, Cincinnati Children’s was well represented with talks and posters on the following topics: standardizing our imaging quality control standards; the collection and management of images from across the enterprise; and the planning of annual imaging projects. In addition our staff led discussions on a variety of topics related to enterprise imaging and the use of social media in imaging.

The medical imaging community and the field of Imaging Informatics is tight knit and fast paced. Participation in these types of organizations is another way that Cincinnati Children’s stays on the leading edge of technology in order to provide the best experience and quality of service to our patients and their families.
