From Cyprus to Cincinnati: Chasing the Best!

In 2003, when I first got a chance to be trained in the United States, one of my mentors suggested that Cincinnati Children’s was one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. Because of logistical reasons, I was not able to attend Cincinnati Children”s at that time. I could not begin training at Cincinnati Children’s until I completed my obligatory service in the Air Force. After retiring from my first institution, I was finally lucky enough to find a spot here!

It has been a big transition from a small Mediterranean island (Cyprus) to the United States with three teenagers. Luckily, both my coworkers and my neighborhood have helped my family and me a lot.

Before coming to Cincinnati, I had hoped I would find unique learning and research opportunities at Cincinnati Children’s, which would supply me with the proper experience to provide better care to my patients living in either the US or in my home country. It has only been a year, but after this short time I have come to realize I could not have found an institution that’s more organized with their work, educational for their students and dedicated to their patients. Cincinnati Children’s Radiology Department has made traveling from Cyprus to Cincinnati simply the best!
