Jennifer Eten, an imaging technologist in the Radiology Department, recently received an Honorable Mention for the Cincinnati Children’s Core Values Award. All our employees are expected to demonstrate the following core values: tell the truth, respect everyone, work as a team and make a difference. Jennifer, however, was honored for going above and beyond.
Jennifer has been at Cincinnati Children’s for more than 12 years, and during that time as a radiography technologist, she has provided expert imaging, served as a team leader, worked as preceptor for new employees and students, and has proven herself to be a supportive co-worker. One co-worker described her as having a “positive attitude that is contagious.” She makes everyone’s day great by adding friendly humor and smiles that inspire those around her.
Jen was nominated by a peer and co-worker who wrote in the nomination:
She recognizes the unique needs of patients and families and will problem solve with the other members of the radiology team to create a plan of care that will address those individual needs. Jen is kind and compassionate in the patient care she provides. I have seen her playfully interact with a 3-year-old and emotionally connect with an anxious and scared teenager. She is flexible in her approach to patient care, using her strong understanding of developmental information, individual patient and family needs, and the specific situation to help direct her approach and role. She seeks to learn more about the diverse backgrounds of patients and families coming to Cincinnati Children’s and the ways that language, culture and beliefs impact patients and families and her interactions with them. She is respectful of caregivers and parents, working effectively with patients and families of diverse backgrounds. She is mindful of diversity issues but seeks to provide everyone with quality patient care demonstrated though kindness and competency in her work. Her ability to understand and incorporate cultural and developmental information into practice makes her such an excellent radiology technologist.
Alex is a radiologist and the Neil D. Johnson Chair of Radiology Informatics. In this role, he helps to manage the information systems used by the Radiology department. Clinically, Alex is the Assistant Director of thoracoabdominal imaging. His research interests include liver disease, liver tumors, inflammatory bowel disease, and appendicitis.
