Keith Strauss, Winner of the 2021 Image Gently Butterfly Award

Keith Strauss is an Emeritus here in the Radiology Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Keith played a critical role in the department formulating protocols for our scanners to take images of our patients at the lowest possible radiation exposure without sacrificing image detail. He also gave lectures within the department on physics relating to medical imaging. We are proud to announce that he has been given the 2021 Image Gently Butterfly Award.

What is Image Gently?

As stated in their website, “The Image Gently Alliance is a coalition of health care organizations dedicated to providing safe, high quality pediatric imaging worldwide. The primary objective of the Alliance is to raise awareness in the imaging community of the need to adjust radiation dose when imaging children. The ultimate goal of the Alliance is to change practice.”

From the Butterfly Awards:

Since the beginning of the Image Gently® campaign, the butterfly has been used as a symbol communicating both the soft touch and the big effect – the Butterfly Effect.1 Keith Strauss is being honored for his exceptional impact on the success of our efforts. We thank him for his service to the care of children.
