March Radiology Patient Experience Update

How are we doing?

In February, 92.2 % of the 295 families surveyed gave us a 9 or 10 for “Overall rating of facility”

This exceeds our Radiology FY22 PE Goal of 92.0% 9/10s for “Overall Rating”

What’s new?

Parents voice appreciation for asking about worries and concerns.

  • The goal for our latest Patient Experience initiative: To improve scores for our lowest scoring survey question: Were you able to discuss your worries or concerns with the staff/technologist that performed your child’s tests or procedures?
  • One parent said, “I’m so glad you asked me that question. Thank you! At our local hospital, no one ever asked that question.”
  • In the last few weeks, more than ever before, we’ve heard patients and parents say they appreciate the opportunity to address worries and concerns about the exam.

Family Feedback

Kelly Range was our Child Life Specialist and she was very sweet. Her voice was calming and she was able to distract our daughter when she needed it most. Casey was fun and sparkly, just like my daughter, from the very beginning. She connected with her and really made the whole experience seem very lighthearted. Shelley was gentle and listened to Maisie when she talked about her worries when it came to the test. I do not remember the doctor’s name who helped, but he also was very patient and kind. He was informative with me about the test and the results. Overall, our experience could not have gone better. We are glad knowing that it is over for now, and that when she has to do it again, she can remember her Certificate of Bravery and that the team made it feel not so bad. We really appreciate the special type of person it takes to work at Children’s. We never take for granted how lucky we are to be so close to top-notch facilities and testing. But we know in our hearts, it’s the people at Children’s who make it a special place. There has never been an ounce of frustration or annoyance toward my child, and I will forever be grateful to people who make crummy and stressful situations for families a lot less stressful and scary. We hope she has this team again. They were outstanding

Krista in Radiology made me feel so safe and made sure to give me multiple options for everything so I could be most comfortable. She really listened to all my needs and concerns. Thankful I had her for my experience!

I appreciate everyone listening to my concerns and keeping me in the loop as to what was going on. They made sure that they let me know that my concerns were important. Thank you for having such a great team!

I just want to say that I’ve been with a bunch of radiologists at other facilities and just no one was as nice and caring as the staff, but I think today, they really listened to me and heard my issues that I’ve had in the past and they made it the best MRE I’ve ever had. I didn’t get sick at all and they were amazing, so this was a really amazing facility. Thank you so much for taking care of me.

My son’s radiology tech was very kind and understanding. She made my son feel comfortable and helped him understand the process. The radiologist did as well. Great team!

The whole nuclear medicine team was fantastic. Mariah and Tony were excellent in providing the details of my daughter’s treatment and Dr. Sharpe was very thorough with everything and made sure we fully understood what was going to take place!  Such a wonderful experience under scary times for our daughter.

The lady that actually did the x-rays and so forth did a perfect job, number one. Number two, made my daughter feel really good and… and so forth about how the tests were done and what she had to do and the whole nine yards. Nothing… nothing could’ve been done any better. Good job.

Christa was the best! I can’t say enough good things about how great she was with explaining everything and how great she was with my daughter. She made it so easy! And Natalie from Child Life helped my child get through the test with ease. She was fantastic!

Everyone we encountered at our appt was amazing!! They even called and moved our appt up a day to avoid the bad weather that was coming. We love everything about Children’s and are blessed to have them in our city!
