Meet the Team: 2017 Summer Radiology Medical Students

Once again this summer, four University of Cincinnati College of Medicine second-year medical students are at work on several clinical radiology research projects. In this nine-week program, our medical students are paired with a Radiology faculty member, helping them obtain research data pertaining to pediatric radiology studies.

To learn more about our annual summer program please see our 2015 blog post, “Radiology Medical Student Summer Research Program Benefits Everyone.” And now to introduce you to our four new medical students.

Keagan Gertz is from Westerville, Ohio, an area just north of Columbus. Keagan enjoys distance running. He qualified for the Boston Marathon recently and plans to run that race in April of next year. He also likes to swim, make Mexican food, and listen to live music.

Nathaniel Roberson is from Buffalo, NY. One of his hobbies is reading fiction, and he recently finished reading 1984 by George Orwell and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.  Nathaniel’s other hobby is going to the gym four-five times a week. Currently, he’s interested in the radiology field of medicine.

Andrew Furthmiller is a Cincinnati native who grew up in Finneytown, Ohio. He enjoys camping and being outdoors, playing tennis, skiing, traveling, but has taken a break from most of these recently because he has an amazingly fun 13-month-old son at home whom he enjoys spending time with the most. He has broad interests in the medical field, but is becoming more interested in emergency medicine, pediatrics, radiology and anesthesiology.

Alexandra Plemmons is from Grosse Ile, Michigan, a small town south of Detroit. Her hobbies are crocheting and horseback riding. She has a wide range of interests in the medical field, but is quite interested in pediatric radiology.

We wish these fine second year medical students all the best during their time in medical school. Hopefully, the Radiology Department at Cincinnati Children’s has left a lasting impression for one or more of them to consider a career in the field of radiology.
