My name is Anthony (Tony) Dandino and I’m an MRI technologist at Cincinnati Children’s. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in Advanced Medical Imaging Technology. As an MRI tech, I image almost every organ in the body. From head to toe and heart to brain, I capture it all.
In addition to taking pictures, I am also one of the MRI charge techs, which means I’m responsible for directing and maintaining the overall patient flow for the MRI division. I work with the general anesthesia nurses to predict and prevent delays in the schedule and help to solve problems if they arise. I also work on projects with our Quality Improvement Team, focusing on patient care and experience within the MRI department.
I’ve worked at Cincinnati Children’s for a couple of years now and I still learn something new everyday. Because of this, I would not want to work anywhere else. When I first started I was overwhelmed by the size of the hospital, but with each smiling face, I felt more and more at ease. Now Cincinnati Children’s feels like home.
When I’m not at work, I love to read. Currently my favorite books are from the Game of Thrones series. The intricate twists and turns of the plot leave me thirsty to read more without ever giving away the ending. Reading and working in MRI are similar in that both force me to thinking critically and solve problems. Like reading, MRI at Cincinnati Children’s is exciting and interesting. I am lucky to be able to start my own personal adventure every day I go to work.
