Cincinnati Children’s is one of the foremost training hospitals for pediatric specialties both within the United States and the world. This reputation applies also to the Department of Radiology, which has one of the largest training programs for pediatric radiologists in the country.
Every year, we welcome up to nine fellows into our hospital for specialist training in pediatric radiology. Fellows are doctors who have completed four years of a residency in diagnostic radiology and have decided that they want to specialize in diagnosing diseases in children. These fellows work closely with the staff radiologists, learning how to interpret your child’s x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine study, and interventional studies. They get direct teaching from these experienced staff on individual patients as well as attending classroom teaching sessions that occur twice per day.

You may meet some of them while you or your child is having a study performed. Because of the reputation of the department for producing high-quality pediatric radiologists, we attract some of the best candidates from not only all 50 states but also from around the world. Over the years we have had trainees from all continents except Antarctica! Right now our trainees came to us from residency training programs in California, Utah, Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, West Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Massachusetts, and also from Puerto Rico and Canada. Most of them will be taking what they have learned here to other hospitals in the United States and across the globe.
As a patient, you are very much part of their training and they hope to repay you by delivering top quality care.
