Radiology Waiting Room Renovations Begin Today

Starting October 1, 2014, construction will begin on Cincinnati Children’s Main Campus Radiology Department waiting room. At the end of this seven-week renovation project, we will have a new and improved waiting room to better serve our patients and families. Below are few answers to some questions you might have during the renovation:

How will the registration process be different during renovation?
When you arrive, you and your child will check in at a kiosk and visit our registration staff at the temporary radiology registration desk in the B-1 Concourse area. Once you register, you will be directed to one of several temporary waiting areas, the location of which will depend on the type of test your child is having.

How will the radiology team find us when they’re ready for us?
You may be asked to provide a cell phone number or receive a pager at registration which we will use to better locate you while you wait in the temporary waiting rooms.

Who can answer my question if I have one?
Volunteers and radiology staff will be available to help direct you to the correct area and answer any questions you may have during your stay.

How long will renovation last?
We predict that the newly remodeled Radiology Waiting Room 1 will be complete and ready to welcome patients and families on November 24, 2014.

What will the new space look like?
The new waiting room will have an all new look! The theme of the new décor is “Beneath the Surface” with colors and textures inspired by nature and Cincinnati’s location near the river’s edge. You will be able to explore what’s under the water’s surface through various crafts and visual displays, and just as our families requested, the fish tank will not only remain, but it will be bigger and better! In addition, you will find a variety of seating options, including separate areas for activities/play, quiet reading or work, and relaxation.

Should we plan differently for our visit during the renovation?
Since space will be limited, and visitor restrictions are in place throughout the hospital, when possible, please try to bring only those children who have scheduled appointments to the hospital.

In addition, since the current fish tank and video games will not be available, please consider bringing extra games, books or electronic devices to help keep you child entertained while waiting.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions. We thank you in advance for your help and understanding during this exciting time and we look forward to sharing our wonderful, new waiting room with you in the near future.
