Celebrating Radiology Week 2018

Celebrating Radiology Week 2018

The first week in November is time to celebrate Radiology Week! The week commemorates November 8, 1895, as the day that Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the existence of x-rays. It also increases awareness within our community of the vital role that radiology imaging plays in healthcare. The annual event has been celebrated in the USA for decades, but for the past 7 years, an international joint initiative including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American College of Radiology (ACR), European Society of Radiology (ESR), and numerous other regional and national societies (ISR, AOSR, CIR, RANZCR, RSSA, EFRS) have sponsored the International Day of Radiology (IDoR).

The week is an opportunity to share what we take pride in doing daily in radiology. It is an opportunity for technologists, physicians, physicists, nurses, child life, patient aides, customer service reps, clerks, students, and experts alike to show off the fascinating images they make and the tools that they use to create pictures of how our bodies work. Across the world and right here in Cincinnati, there will be open houses, media events, public lectures, webinars, quizzes and countless activities to showcase the science and art of medical imaging.

This week in our Radiology Department we will be celebrating with breakfast and lunch provided by vendors, faculty and nurses. The department will also be handing out custom radiology shirts to our employees.

Look around and take part in all that this week has to offer. Visit our blog for more information and connect with IDoR on Facebook.
