Sadao “Sid” Kunimura: Radiology Loses an Old Friend and Colleague

Sadao “Sid” Kunimura’s career began in 1954 at Cincinnati Children’s rising to chief radiologic technologist. His position was later held by Gary Henry, Janet Beerman and currently by Todd Lehkamp. During his career Sid made many life long friends in the Department of Radiology. Sid kept in touch with the department by attending seminars, retirement events, etc. He later transitioned his services and experience to Philips Medical US, until his retirement in 1996.

Here are some condolences left by some of his former colleagues:

“Sid was a great guy and I depended upon him so much during my CHMC days. I have fond memories of Sid holding a child upside down on the X-ray table for a pneumoencephalogram. He was very helpful in figuring out new techniques and the technical aspects of radiography and fluoro. And more than that, he was a nice man.” -Dr. Robert Kaufman

“Working with Sid, I learned a lot about what went into creating a good film with the first exposure.” -Dr. Gayle Bickers

“Sid was such a very nice man, he made Chief technologist in the 70’s and 80’s” -Dr. Diane Babcock
