Welcome Clinical Radiology Fellows, Class of 2019, Part 2

Currently we have ten Clinical Radiology fellows. One fellow recently arrived in July, one will be extending his fellowship training for another year, and one will only be extending his fellowship stay for just six months.

Dr. Valeria Onofrj joined our radiology family on the July 24. She is our newest Neuroradiology Fellow. She did her medical school and received her MD in Milan (Italy) at Universita’ Vita-Salute San Raffaele. Her residency was in Rome (Italy), at Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Policlinico Agostino Gemelli. She chose neuroradiology before radiology. While doing a clerkship in neurology during her fifth year in medical school (in Italy medical school lasts six years), she found herself more interested in neuroimaging than neurology itself. She basically decided to get into radiology for neuroradiology.

Dr. Onofrj grew up in Italy. Born in a small town on the Adriatic coast (Pescara), she lived there for 18 years, then Milan, Rome, Montreal (Canada) for almost 1 year, North Carolina and finally Cincinnati.

The last movie she saw was a horror movie called Heritage. “It was probably the most boring horror movie I’ve ever seen. Not recommended,” she said. The last book she read was Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie; it was a beautiful story, which deserves to be read, in her opinion.

Dr. Yinan Li is our Clinical Radiology fellow from the Class of 2018, who is staying for another year in our department. In his own words…

“I had so much fun, met so many great people, and learned more than I ever could have imagined in just one year during my general pediatric radiology fellowship here at Cincinnati.  The idea of doing a second year focused on advanced MR imaging of the body and MSK (musculoskeletal) with some of the best radiologists in the country was an opportunity that I could not pass up.”

Dr. David Hunte will be staying with our department for another six months. After his fellowship he will be re-uniting with his family down in Mobile, Alabama. The southern US is where he plans to continue his career as a radiologist.
