Happy Radiology Week 2021

Happy Radiology Week 2021

On November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Roentgen discovered the x-ray. It is remarkable to consider how imaging has evolved over 126 years and what we can provide to patients and their families.

Fuzzy Images to HD Images

From the first fuzzy images of bones that took exposures up to an hour, we now have high-resolution radiographic images available in seconds. We have fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, molecular imaging, and interventional radiology. Our department touches tens of thousands of children’s lives every year. We help to discover if they are sick or injured. We help to direct their treatments. We help to make children healthy and well.

We are fortunate to work in one of the best pediatric hospitals and in one of the best radiology departments in the world. We are leaders in dose reduction, patient safety, process improvement, education and research and discovery. From the front desk to the imaging suites to the reading room to the research labs, our dedication and hard work is making a difference in the lives of the patients entrusted to our care today and in the future.

This week we are celebrating Radiology Week at Cincinnati Children’s. We officially celebrate this one week in early November, but we appreciate all our staff in the Department of Radiology every day throughout the year. We thank our staff for bringing their skills and heart to work every day and making us the wonderful department that we are and will continue to be.
