Cincinnati Children’s Radiology welcomes Dr. Samuel Brady, who comes to us from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Dr. Brady completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in medical physics at Duke University. Since completion of his post graduate studies, Dr. Brady has worked in the field of pediatric imaging as a clinical medical physicist and research scientist. Clinically, he is cross-trained for imaging physics in all imaging modalities in Radiology.

He currently chairs the pediatric imaging subcommittee through the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and sits on various task groups, working groups, and committees in the (AAPM), American Board of Radiology (ABR), and American College of Radiology (ACR). His primary focus on research has been the development of radiation dosimetry (the measurement, calculation and evaluation of the ionizing radiation dose absorbed by the human body) and image quality models for pediatrics (including adults) across all ionizing radiation imaging modalities.

More recently his research lab has developed a fully automated multi-tissue classification algorithm for CT using machine learning techniques.  Future research goals are the continual development of right-sizing radiation dose and image quality for the required diagnostic task, meaning using the lowest amount of radiation on our patients without sacrificing quality for the radiologist to make a good diagnostic evaluation.
