The sun, sand, and sunscreen are some essential parts of having fun during the summer. However, these pillars of summer are sometimes the cause of irritated eyes.

In this episode of the Young & Healthy podcast, host Kate Setter sits down with Dr. Leah Owen, pediatric ophthalmologist and division director, to talk about simple ways to help your kids enjoy the summer while protecting their eyes.

Dr. Owen shares how parents and caregivers can:

  • Identify common summer eye injuries, irritants, and treatments
  • Respond to sore eyes from swimming pools in kids
  • Understand styes and their causes
  • Protect eyes from the sun and summertime toys

Learn how to recognize when it might be time for your child to have a vision screening—and why early detection matters. Put on your shades, get comfortable, and tune in for a thoughtful, informative, and friendly conversation.
