Dr. Leah Owen sits down with host Kate Setter to explore the essentials of eye care for kids. It’s important to ensure your child’s vision is ready for the classroom as school for many has just started. Dr. Owen highlights the importance of routine eye exams, what pediatricians check for, and when it’s time to consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist. We explore signs of vision problems in children, like squinting or sitting too close to screens, and Dr. Owen offers tips on daily habits and nutrition for promoting eye health. She also provides guidance for families navigating their child’s first glasses or contacts. Listeners will learn about the effects of screen time on young eyes and some surprising facts about vision.
