Swallowed It! When to Worry and What to Do

Swallowed It! When to Worry and What to Do

Kids are curious about pretty much everything.

They tend to find things they don’t necessarily need to get their hands on — and in some cases, they swallow those things. What should caregivers and parents do if their child swallows something they shouldn’t?

On the latest episode of Young & Healthy, host Bo McMillan sits down with pediatric GI specialist Dr. Alex Nasr to talk through what to know in these scary moments.

Dr. Nasr shares and discusses:

  • Common objects kids tend to swallow, such as coins, batteries, magnets, and water beads
  • Steps to take if you suspect a child has swallowed a foreign object
  • How to decide whether to visit urgent care or an emergency department in this scenario
  • Ways to prevent children from swallowing objects they shouldn’t
  • Additional insights to help keep kids safe

So, grab your headphones (wired ones, if you can) and tune in to this vital conversation to help keep your family safe and healthy.
